New sports wheelchair for TCA's Sophie
One student at Thomas Clarkson Academy who is looking forward to getting back to PE lessons in particular is Sophie Clarke, after the community rallied round to fundraise for a new specialist sports wheelchair for her.
Sophie, who has cerebral palsy along with her twin brother Lewis, found manoeuvring her normal wheelchair difficult when it came to sports.
Following a number of fundraising events, including a night of bingo organised by the Fen Ladies Darts League, and with support from local businesses, Sophie was finally able to collect her new wheelchair earlier this month.
She’s already been making full use of it to play netball in her garden, and it even has pink lights around the wheel so Sophie can be seen at night.
The school looks forward to seeing her in action during her PE lessons when it re-opens!
