Arrangements for secondary re-opening in January
Dear Parents and Carers,
The government has revised the schedule for the return of secondary age students in January. Arrangements are as follows:
Children classed as vulnerable and those whose parents are critical workers return on Tuesday January 5th (the definition of those who fall into these categories can be found here).
Based on the latest DfE guidance and as at the time of writing, Year 11 and Year 13 students will return to on-site learning on Monday January 11th. All other students will return to on-site learning on Monday January 18th.
Remote learning arrangements from Tuesday January 5th – Friday January 15th
All students in Year 11 and Year 13 will begin remote learning on January 5th via live teaching on Microsoft Teams. In addition, all students sitting public exams should attend school for their exams and will be contacted on 4th January regarding this.
It is also our intention that all other year groups will begin remote learning on January 5th. We do ask you to bear with us if there are initial operational hiccups as we roll out our plans.
Students should expect to follow their normal timetabled lessons and will be contacted before or on January 4th with details of how to access and complete their remote learning work.
CoVID-19 Testing in Secondary Schools
It is now the government’s expectation that all secondary age students should be tested as and when they return to school in the new year. From January 4th – 8th when only vulnerable and critical worker children are in school, we will be organising our testing arrangements, training staff and risk assessing our process to ensure it is robust and safe. During this time, we will also be delivering remote learning to all students. As students return to school over the following days, we will communicate with you and them about the testing arrangements.
