KSA see water demo by Fire Service
Experts from the Fire Service and Water Rescue Unit demonstrated equipment they use when rescuing people and animal from dangerous floodwaters.
Year 7 students at Kettering Science Academy are currently learning about flooding as part of their geography curriculum and so experts from both Kettering Fire and Rescue Service and the Wellingborough Water Rescue Unit came along with their fire tender, rescue boat and specialist clothing in order to bring the topic to life.
Geography teacher Natasha Franklin said ‘This was a fantastic opportunity and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It really gave students an insight into how dangerous floodwaters can be with risks such as water contamination, open drains and fast flooding. A huge thank you to the experts who gave up their time to demonstrate their vital equipment and life-saving skills.’
