Two Year 9 students from Corby Technical School have built an accurate Minecraft model of the school building. Nathaniel Tew and Courtney Daniels used the program, which allows users to build using 3D blocks, to create a digital representation of the school, gathering data from real life research and photographs.
Ofsted has reported that ‘significant changes’ implemented at Thomas Clarkson Academy over the past six months ‘are having a positive impact on standards across the academy.’
Their report focused on staffing, quality of teaching, off-site provision and the support given to the academy by the Brooke Weston Trust.

Athlete Claire Lomas spoke about the amazing sporting challenges she has completed since being paralysed from the chest down in a freak riding accident. Claire completed the London Marathon in 17 days, lit the London 2012 Paralympic cauldron, finished the Great North Run and rides motorbikes at speeds of up to 90mph. She has also raised over £500,000 for spinal injury research.
Taking part in a jungle camp and learning to dive were just a couple of the highlights of this year’s expedition to Borneo. A handful of intrepid students made the month-long trip which had been two year’s in the planning.
A film crew from BBC News’s Click filmed at Brooke Weston for a ‘back-to-school’ educational feature that will be broadcast this Saturday. Presenter Spencer Kelly and director Talia Franco interviewed our Year 10 students who have used Minecraft in their technology lessons to bring abstract concepts, such as logic gates in programming, to life. IT teacher Ray Chambers, who has been invited by Microsoft to become an Innovative Expert Educator, was also interviewed about technology in the classroom.
