Roman feast at Oakley Vale Primary School
Year 3 students at Oakley Vale Primary School rounded off their latest topic with a traditional Roman feast and games.
Some of the Otters and Badgers even donned military uniforms and togas to celebrate. Parents and carers were also invited along to join in the fun.
The food comprised varieties of bread, cheese, grapes, figs, meat and olives, all of which would have been the staple fare of the Romans. After feasting the children also had games of marbles, a very popular Roman pastime.
Teacher Mandy Mutch said: ‘This was a lovely finale to our topic and all of the children had a fantastic time. Thanks to all parents and families for coming along and supporting us.’
