BWA Library assistants presented with certificates
Well done to the Library assistants from Brooke Weston Academy who have been presented with certificates after completing basic and bronze level library training.
Seven students, from Years 7 and 8, achieved their basic level while another five from Years 8 to 9 were given the Bronze Award.
The students work on a rota for break, lunchtime and after school and are each assigned a section of the library that is their responsibility to keep in order. Those working at Bronze level also do desk and issuing duties.
Principal Pete Kirkbride told them: ‘When it comes to jobs and applications the thing that sets you apart is this sort of thing. You have learned some pretty big skills, stepped out of your comfort zones and seized the opportunity. What I love most is that you have given service back to the Academy. Well done and a massive thank you.’
Librarian Wendy McCabe said: ‘This is a huge library and, without the library assistants’ help it would be a lot harder to keep it in order as there are so many items issued and returned daily.’
