We were delighted to welcome Andy Nicholson from ABF Sugar to speak at the BWT Leadership Academy. He spoke about his personal development journey through his career in the food industry.

His first job was working for Heinz. He then moved onto Safeway supermarket, and then Campbell's before joining British Sugar. He now works in a Global Divisional role where he looks after all the sugar businesses within Associated British Foods (ABF).

Andy shared his experience of empowering and developing high-performing teams within British Sugar and spoke about how his leadership has been at the centre of driving cultural change within the business. He also spoke about the "impostor syndrome" which he and many leaders experience at times during their careers.

This was an inspirational session and was received extremely well by the Leadership Academy participants. They discussed the many parallels which can be drawn between the leadership experiences of Andy in a global business and the roles of senior leaders in education.
