Statement relating to RAAC
We know that the news regarding RAAC (Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) has been worrying to hear. For more information about RAAC, please read this article by the Department for Education.
We can confirm that no schools within Brooke Weston Trust have been affected by this.
As our schools’ buildings were built very recently, or indeed before the 1950s, RAAC has not been found.
While the need for schools with RAAC needing to close are quite new, this is something our site and operations teams have been investigating over the past few years. Additional structural surveys were also completed this summer and provided to the Department for Education confirming there was no RAAC and that our buildings are safe.
Across Brooke Weston Trust, we have a clear programme in place to assess, survey and invest in our school buildings to ensure they are not only safe, but also provide the best spaces for teaching and learning to take place.
