We are proud to announce the creation of our very own Reading Charter—a testament to our unwavering commitment to placing reading at the very core of everything we do. It’s a powerful statement that underscores our belief that reading is everyone’s responsibility.
The development of the charter has been a truly collaborative effort. Literacy Leads from each of our schools, across all phases from 3 to 18 years old, came together to shape this vision. With their expertise and insights, the charter has been meticulously crafted to ensure it resonates across all age groups and educational contexts within our Trust.
Our Reading Charter is more than a guideline; it represents a shared promise to nurture the joy of reading in all its forms. It embraces the idea that reading is not just an academic skill, but a gateway to creativity, empathy, and lifelong learning. Whether it’s diving into the pages of a book, exploring digital texts, or engaging with storytelling in the classroom, we aim to inspire every child and young person to develop a genuine love for reading.
Through this initiative, we are creating a culture where reading is celebrated and championed by everyone—students, staff, parents, and the wider community. By fostering collaboration and shared accountability, the Reading Charter ensures that literacy becomes a collective responsibility and a valued cornerstone of our educational ethos.
As we look to the future, the charter will guide us in embedding literacy into our practices and policies, driving forward innovation, and equipping our learners with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.
